Stars of CCTV

I bought the first Hard-Fi album, Stars Of CCTV without hearing any of the music but on the back of a piece I read somewhere that mentioned the Clash and Run DMC amongst others. After consulting Discogs the other evening, it turns out that my cd is one of the ltd original run of 500, as it only contains 9 tracks and not the 11 on later pressings, so I'm not sure where the article on the band came from.  At the time I quite liked the cd but I could probably count on all fingers the amount of time I have listened to it since. Not sure why I never bought anything else by the band apart from that cd and the first four singles the last of which was not included on my cd. I'm not even sure if they are still a going concern.

Anyway,  here's my favourite track from the album and the second single.

Hard-Fi - Hard To Beat

Love the first Hard-Fi album, love their Clash impressions, this one in particular sounding like Mick Jones doing French filter disco. One of my top singles of the last decade. I don't remember any decent remixes of it though, cos it seems like it would be ripe for remix.

Your posting today made me fish this album out and give it a spin for the first time in many years. Still sounds pretty decent in parts.

Great live band but a bit patchy on albums. They released a Greatest hits album last year which contained a new song Move Over a pertinent comment on modern politics, posturing musicians and the banking crisis

Stars Of CCTV is absolutely one of my favorite albums of the first decade of the Millennium. Hard To Beat is a killer track!

As the other ones said before: one of the best records from the start of the Millennium. Didn't listen to it for longer time but it seems that I'll check it out again.
