Tired Of Doing Day Jobs With No Thanks For What I Do

I've always loved this song. I think that the Rods had listened to Born To Run more than once, not a bad thing in my book, it has that same sort of feel about it.

Eddie & The Hot Rods - Do Anything You Wanna Do

I love this song, I've always loved it too. Don't care that it's a pub rock sub-Springsteen effort as I saw it described not so long ago. It has an energy that fizzes, and an almost melancholy feel and it's as good as most of the punk/new wave singles of the time.

Just thinking about when I bought this on 7". It was about 1984 and my local record shop was closing down. The owners, 2 funny old Jewish brothers who fixed bikes and televisions in the other half of the shop let me go through their old back stock and buy a load of old singles at 50p a piece.

Got Booker T & The MGs version of The Horse, this song, Your Generation by Gen X, Tin Soldiers by SLF, My World by Secret Affair, White Riot by those Clash boys and a bunch of other things.

I don't think I bought a single from the Beasley back stock that I don't still love today 30 years later. Also got Edwin Starr's War & Peace album for a quid. That's a great little album, like a missing link between the Motown label it was on and Stax.

I think there's a lot of us who love this song. Secret Affair - a record I used to own!
