The Great Fall Album Listening Party.

This weekend, I will be mostly listening to the Fall.

The Fall Forum decided that this weekend would be the inaugural International Fall Album Listening Party. The idea is simple, listen to all 27 studio albums in order of release over the space of a weekend. 6 tonight, 10 tomorrow and 11 on Sunday. At the point of posting I'm half way through Dragnet, the second lp and not terribly good. I have been surprised at how good Live At The Witch Trials sounded, an album which I'm not overly keen on either. Tonight for me will be the most difficult listen as these albums with the exception of Grotesque After The Gramme and Hex Enduction Hour are the ones I listen to least.

By the end of the weekend I will probably be a blithering wreck, or L will have divorced me due to mental cruelty.

I will not inflict more Fall on you but be prepared for a gem or two that I have forgtten about but will hear over the coming couple of days, next week. You have been warned.

Instead here is the latest installment in the Touched By The Hand Of God series. Here is Weatherall's remix of the D---s Compulsion which I got from Discogs this week.

Track deleted due to DMCA take down order, although the manager of the band was unaware of the complaint.

On the fourth album, now. I have serious doubts about being able to do this Mr H.

Ha- this sounds great! Just glad I havn't signed up. All 27? You'll lose your mind. By the time you get to Extricate you'll be a gibbering wreck. And single.
On t'other hand Doves remix is blindingly good.

Swiss Adam - It is a rather good remix isn't it. he hasn't put a foot wrong over the last couple of years.

I'm having to re-evaluate these early Fall albums, Slates is absolutely brilliant.

Onto my favourite now, Hex

I was at a thing on Wednesday night, where Andy Weatherall asked to borrow one of our spare chairs.

I WAS AT A THING-AH. WHERE ANDY WEATHERALL. ASKED. TO BORROW. A CHAIR. IT WAS THE FAULT. OF THE GOVERNMENT-AH.

What sort of thing does one go to where Andrew Weatherall asks to borrow a chair? I never go to those knid of things. And come to think of it why hasn't he ever remixed The Fall?
And what are we all doing on computers at this time on a friday night?

davyh said...

Avoiding the sort of things Andrew Weatherall goes to, presumably.

Has he still got that ridiculous tache, Mond?

I didn't know it was Andy Weatherall a my mate pointed it out - I thought he'd come from a Victorian themed evening.

Where was it? Here - the next one's a Biba special

Had to take a breather, back to Hex.

SA - We are all old sad sacks, granted some of us are sadder than others, I will hold my hand up.

But when the choice is between 40 channels of shit, or talking shit to people you've never met I will take the latter anyday.

That should have been typing, not talking.

Couldn't agree more- I havn't seen a tv all night. Vicotrian themed evening- it must have been him.

I still can't see how you're going to get through 11 fall albums on a Sunday night. What about that programme about the vet in south Africa?

@ Mondo Looks interesting. That'll be Max Decharne of the Flaming Stars, which explains Weatherall's attendance.

Can we keep track of this in real time? Will you be Twittering...?

(btw I signed up today! I is like cuttting-edge, innit).

Haven't found the urge to do the twitter thing. I was under the impression that it was only for luvvies and young folk.

davyh said...

What album are you on now, or have you stopped for tonight?

drew said...

Last one, Room To Live, not that great. Tomorrow starts of great with Perverted By Language but their is already disquiet in the household.

davyh said...

I'm not surprised!

I've just done the twitter thing, now what indeed.
