I've Got To Break Away

Here is a cracking bit of early 70s New York Soul from Baby Washington. Her first single as a solo singer was released some 17 years previously. During her career she has recorded for various labels including Cotillion, Sue and Master Five, on which this single was released in 1973. Justine Washington, as she was christened last appeared in the UK in 2004 when she performed at the Prestatyn Soul Weekender.

Hi Drew - we frequent several of the same blogs so I thought I'd stop and say hello and that you have some great music here... I especially like this, being on a bit of a soul kick at the moment. For one awful moment I had Tracey Ullman's 'Breakaway' going through my head when I saw the title, thankfully erased once I played this!

Gotta get the wonderful Irma Thomas' Breakaway out of my head before I can listen to this.
