Possibly My Favourite Cover Ever

One of my favourite songs covered by one of my favourite voices. A match made in heaven.

Lone Justice - Sweet Jane

Funnily enough my favourite cover ever is also Sweet Jane, but the Cowboys Junkies version. I love the Lone Justice versions too, I think I've got about three different live ones by them.

Maria Mckee is a fantastic singer, one of my all time favourite voices too. But then I think we've talked about watching that Whistle Test episode that Lone Justice were on before.

Easily one of the best covers of a great song. Maria McKee has just got such a fabulous voice. This has cheered up a rather dull Tuesday.

I saw them open for U2 at the Hartford Civic Center in 1985, they closed their set with this and the Edge and Bono both came onstage to sing it with them.. a magic concert moment.

No doubting the brilliance of this one. I'd also probably go for the Cowboy Junkies version, though. I used to play this one in one of my bands, The Smells From Hell.

Saw LJ at the QM back in Glasgow many years ago, supported by the little known Deacon Blue...think Ricky was putting finishing touches to Real Gone Kid. Got my arm around her after the gig an all I could produce was 'well played Maria'. I thought I was at Parkhead!

How about the Jazz Butcher version?
