I must have played this record over twenty times this weekend but still can't get it out of my head. I'm not really that bothered to tell you the truth, there are a lot worse songs that could be lodged in there. It is an absolutely gorgeous song but I still can't quite get to grips with the fact that it was released in 1975, I always think of it as coming from the previous decade.

A beautiful song. Originally written in 1966 and recorded by various folk (including Eddy Arnold and Joe Simon) before Dorothy Moore did the finest version in 1975. So you weren't wrong with your 1960's idea.
This is a brilliant tune. We miss quality song writing and arrangement of this type these days. The atmosphere of the recording is incredible
I echo Anto's thoughts above - beautiful stuff.
What a beautiful track, Drew! I love this one and am also surprised that it was released in the '70s. Now I want to check out Eddy Arnold's and Joe Simon's versions. There are so few songs recorded from the '90s onwards that I've heard that can burrow into my brain and stay on repeat like this.
P.S. If you're inclined to change your link, my feed is now turned on so that it will update in your blogroll. Thanks.
Thanks FBCB - I will n ow seek out those versions.
Swede/Anto - no matter how many times I hear this I still get goosebumps
Marie - still getting "can't find the feed" message
Such a great record. I have a few of Dorothy's singles from around that time - all quality.
