Mellow Sunday

I was at an 18th birthday party last night.  Christ,  I felt old! I had an extremely interesting conversation with a very vociferous girl on the merits of Led Zeppelin and Jack White she also informed me that there was no authenticity or soul in Country music.

My head hurts!

No authenticity or soul in Country music? Christ, Drew, it's enough to make you emigrate to a country in South-west europe!

Ah to be young and opinionated again. These days I have to make do with being old and opinionated.

Guys I was just glad that one of them had an opinion. Earlier I had to berate the whole room when I went through on my out the back and they were listening to Rick Fucking Astley. They must have been thinking "fuck off you old git"

in a weird and similar way i was at a 21st last night and was similarly broadsided by the youngers wanting me to turn off the 'too ravey' music I was playing (out of control by chem bros seemed to call an end to it) and they put on up town funk. jaysus wept.

I'm amazed that an 18 year old is concerned about the whole notion of authenticity in pop music. Last night I was standing in a car park watching a Kylie impersonator 'entertain' some middle aged drinkers and shaking my head in despair. Luckily the Manchester Ska Foundation came on and played a bunch of 30 year old songs. Precious few young people there.

This entire exchange is heartbreaking. I have returned to weeping for the future.

It's not that bad Brian. My nephew has a healthy obsession with Plastikman and SOMA Recordings and he is only 18.

All you old hits need to get a life and concentrate on real problems other than the opinion if a young girl

Thanks anon, point taken. What real problems should us old hits be concentrating on?
