The Force Is Not Stirring In Me

I think I may be getting a bit too old, I'm not feeling all this Force Awakens hype. All I can think about it is that I am going to have to queue up over the holidays and pay over the odds to watch it with a load of weans that won't stay quiet, deep fucking joy.

Here is a track each from a couple of mad singles I bought a few years ago. Rave Wars and The Hardcore Strikes Back which are apparently worth a few quid. I don't think that Mr Lucas would be too happy about the samples used on these or the other tracks as I seem to remember reading that he got a bit litigious with Tom Middleton and Mark Pritchard when they used the moniker of The Jedi Knights

Mark Archer - Don't Make Me Destroy You

AGT Rave Crew - I've Got A Bad Feeling About This

I'm one of *those* people who have never seen Star Wars. The hype has passed me by.

I'll have to dig it out, I've got a cd somewhere, it's a boot I picked up in...New York I think. It's lots of hip hop/trip hop type stuff with a pile of Star Wars samples. It's pretty bad, whoever did the sample shaping/placing in the tracks had no imagination whatsoever, and mostly they're just straightforward loops nicked from the films. The best of it is Lando's tune, which is Lando dialogue over music that sounds like a Shaft or 70s porn pisstake. It's pretty funny the first time. Not the 5th.

I've been feeling very cynical about it. I saw the first 3 at the cinema as a kid. Loved the first 2 and RofJ up to the bit where the Ewoks appeared. The 3 prequels are the biggest waste of cinema time ever so my expectations of a new one were very low. Very very low. Plus the middle aged men acting like kids has been making my knee jerk. But I will go and see it especially as the reviews suggest the magic is back.

You 3 are a bit weird.

Drew,
I'll see it, but the marketing tie-ins are killing my spirit. I watch very little television, but I do see a lot of football on Sundays, and the commercials have been ridiculous. CoverGirl, Subway and Dodge are the ones that immediately come to mind, but there are many others. Making a connection between cosmetics, sandwiches and cars and the new Star Wars... those ad agencies failed at a futile exercise. Is it the same in the UK?
