Why Weren't You There
Here is a lovely piece of soul to start the week off with. Don't know very much about this track other than it was a double a side with Prepared To Love and came out on the Magic City Record Corporation label in 1967.

Why Girl
It's becoming a bit of a habit starting the week with some soul and like all habits it is becoming increasingly difficult to break. But when the tunes are as good as this, then why should I?
This is a belter of a track from 1967 and probably one of the very few northern tracks to use a melodica. Also check out the label that this tune first came out on.

You Keep Calling Me By Her Name
There has been a distinct lack of soul on this blog over the last couple of weeks.
Here, to remedy this oversight, is a belter of a track for a Saturday. You Keep Calling Me By Her Name was originally released on an independent label called Starville and was piclked up by Chess and released as the b-side to I Don't Mind in 1967.
I know absolutely nothing else about Amanda Love.

My Love Gets Stronger
A little bit of Northern to brighten up the start of the week.
Tommy Ridgley was a well known R&B singer from New Orleans, who started off recording for Imperial records in 1949 and also recorded for Decca, Atlantic and in the 60's for local New Orleans label Ric. He kept performing right up until his death from lung cancer in 1999.
My Love Gets Stronger, is a classic mid tempo shuffler, released on the International City label. If you were looking to buy the track on 7" you would need to have more than 500 quid spare, as it is extremely rare and sought after by collectors.
