It's not really a huge jump from the music of the Velvet Underground to that of East Kilbride's most famous dysfunctional brothers, However where yesterday's post saw a band at the very peak of their powers and ability the contents of today's bootleg shows a band with a rudimentary ability at best, I am probably being a bit unfair as I suspect that the members of the Mary Chain were more proficient musicians by the tail end of 1985 than they were letting on. This five track, twelve and a bit minutes of noise was more than half of a typical set by the band at this time. Attending a Jesus and Mary Chain concert way back then may not have been the most musical of events but it was exciting.
I'm not sure if enjoy is the right word here.

And you're so right about these tunes being 50% of their set back then: the first time I saw them we had to drive quite some distance to wherever the venue was and they just played 20 minutes or so ... we thought something must have gone wrong with the equipment or something along those lines. But next gig: same thing ... ha ha! So we drove back again, ears ringing for days and days afterwards!
This of course was before the internet, for younger readers: we knew nothing at all in advance back then, our only source being John Peel on BFBS. These days of course two clicks will ascertain you with the colour of the underwear the singer will be wearing at the gig five months before the gig!!
Dirk - it's a 7" bootleg, no title but the tracks and the date on the back of the fold out photocopied sleeve.
Somethings were better without the internet, no spoilers.
