The absolute rule is the role becomes redundant not the person. 90 day consultation and other work where possible, even if reduced hours/pay, should be offered - redundancy should be a final option not an excuse for a cost-cutting exercise. And if there are contractors onboard they should go and jobs be given to permies.
I've been through this a few times myself it's tough, but I've got a cousin who works on an employment law tribunal. Mail if you've got any Qs and I'll pass them on.
Thanks guys but I have been spared for a third time, however a lot of other haven't including some good friends and some extremely competent workmates.
Am feeling very guilty tonight about still having a job when so many others will not in a few months.
Mondo may still be in touch if any of the others have any questions if that's ok?

Solidarity and empathy, comrade. Hope yr Trade Union is being supportive and offering sound advice/help.

'Phew. That's a relief!'
Olga - Costa Coffee, Luton Airport.
I am going to be going to Luton a lot more often by the sounds of things Dickie.
Shit!
Good to hear. Survivors guilt is tricky though.
