My Codename's Happy Harry

I'm pretty sure that the demographic that visit this place will have no problem understanding what MES is ranting about on this rather wonderful tune by The Fall. This was bizarely only a b-side of the 1982 Kamera single release Look, Know

I was never into CB radio's, a mate up the road had one but I always wondered what the fascination was with spouting pish with folk you don't even know, I still don't. An acquaintence of my parents who had one of those large Citreons, the ones with the suspension that went up and down, his was white, was big into C.B and I remember him having an absolutely ridiculous "handle", something like the white arrow or something equally stupid, on account of the car. Now that I think of it, he was a bit of a weird fucker all in.

The Fall - I'm Into C.B

Bloke who lived near us when I was a kid had CB. I know because it used to come through on my stereo speakers. Still vividly remember drifting off to sleep to The Orb or Tangerine Dream (yeah yeah I was a pretentious teen) for the ambient sounds to be harshly interrupted by KRRK STARSTRIKE LOOKING FOR A LADY BREAKER STARSTRIKE KRRRCK

I seem to remember that the idea of CB Radio felt quite exciting when I was a youngster. Does it still exist? Maybe there's a CB app available for phones.

Given some of the folk and characters you've mentioned over the years, he really must have been something else.

Seems an apt place to mention that I took Simon Ford's book on MES/The Fall with me on holiday to re-read it again after some 15 years...it's actually a decent read which gives praise and stick in the right places about the music. Will be interesting to see who comes up first with an effort at the definitive bio now that the story has nothing to be added to it....
